Our Story
Since 2004, our family business has been supplying Australian families, stores and educators with the very best handcrafted wooden and natural toys and resources for the early years of childhood. We started life as a much loved Steiner-inspired retail store and wholesale business: Honeybee Toys.
In mid 2022 we proudly launched our sister business: Treelight Toys, with a dedicated focus of wholesaling our ranges to quality stores, as well as providing early learning educators, kindergartens, schools and childcare centres with the very best in wooden and natural resources for learning through play.
Our selection of toys is inspired by Steiner (Waldorf) Education as well as drawing on principles from both Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches to early learning. Our toys and resources nurture the imagination and the whole child.
We choose our toys with the greatest of care while looking through the eyes of a child. Our toys are holistic, sustainable and made with natural materials.

We are proud to be an Australian family business, owned and operated by us, the founders, Melissa and Brendan.
When our first child was born in 1998, we became aware that it was almost impossible to buy beautiful, open-ended wooden toys in Australia, and it has been our mission to serve childhood with the very best of resouces for their healthy development.
We represent the world’s finest toy makers, many of which are also ethical family businesses, passionate about their craft and providing nourishing play things for a simplified childhood. Our toys and resources are based on the philosophy of Steiner education and the open-eneded play movement. We believe that all children should be allowed to grow, flourish and be free to play and discover for themselves.
